Local artist, Emilie Pritchard will be displaying her work at the Smithsonian Institution, next April. She has just been accepted into the Smithsonian Craft Show, the premier juried fine craft show, in the nation. It is held each April, at the National Building Museum in Washington DC, a part of the Smithsonian Institution. A panel of three jurors, who are experts in the arts field, are picked by the show organizers to select the 120 craft artists, who will participate. They are chosen from a field of over 1300 applicants.

Emilie Pritchard is a local weaver specializing in rug weaving. She exhibits her work all around the country and has received numerous awards. Most recently, she received one of the top prizes, an award of excellence, at the Gainesville Downtown Festival and Art Show, last weekend. She maintains a studio at 2113 E. 3rd St., in the Millville section of town. Also, she is currently exhibiting several of her pieces at the new library on 11th St., through the end of November.
